FREE BOOKS! *Not an April Fools prank @LDBlakeley #History #AprilFools #eBooks

Nope, no cyberpranks from me. The truth of the matter is: I hate April Fool's Day. There. I said it. Mostly I hate being pranked because I'm a big, fat wimp. But in today's climate of fake news and internet scams, April 1 makes me want to duck for cover and stay close to the ground until the dust settles the next day

I know, I know – it's a widely recognized, beloved tradition and some folks even try to give it gravitas by crediting Chaucer as being the first person to mention this day of pranks and shenanigans. Although scholars tend to think that theory is more of a typo than anything else. Which, if you think about it, is a pretty good April Fools joke in and of itself.

Check out these other theories:

Oh and by the way? That free books thing wasn't just clickbait. I NEVER kid about free books.

Here are a few fab (legal) resources for when funds have run as low as the titles on your eReader:

♥ instaFreebie
♥ Freebooksy
♥ Centsless
♥ OverDrive (yay public libraries!)

I know there are dozens more out there. What are you favourites?

In my own personal book news, I'm happy to report I have a sexy (if I do say so, myself) new cover for my very first book, BEST WORST EVER. It was first published by Dreamspinner Press and I recently had my rights reverted, so look for this one to be available again soon!
NOW AVAILABLE!

BEST WORST EVER

Carey English spends his days planning extravagant parties and lavish weddings and generally making people’s lives brighter. He spends his nights wishing for a man he doesn’t have to share and who won’t try to drag him back into the closet. It doesn’t help that the man he wants most doesn’t need a closet to begin with — his straight best friend, Sky.

Skyler Wood has been dumped — again — just days before the holiday season, leaving him with an ex-fiancĂ©e, a nonrefundable New Year’s Eve getaway rental, and nothing to ring in the New Year but a broken heart. For Carey, rushing off to offer Sky a shoulder will either be the best decision he’s ever made—or it will lead to the worst heartbreak he’s ever experienced.

Until next time,
