Another trip to the Writer's Retreat!

Greetings from this side of Spring!

Where is it where one can have below freezing temperatures and hot all in the same day? Only in Canada. LOL

We took a recent trip up to my writer's retreat in Northern Ontario and when we got there, the ice was just going out on some of the lakes and ponds but the air was quite warm - so off came the winter coats. Yeah!!

And then came a lovely heat wave for a couple of days which allowed me to hit some hiking trails and snap some colorful Spring shots.

But just before we left the writer's retreat...guess what? Snow!
Here's a pic taken from the retreat's living room window...on came the winter coats!

Oh well, LOL, winter does have a way of hanging on.
However sunny days are on the way. Squeeeing!
Then I'll be able to start writing outdoors again.
Notice the old writer's chair on the pic below?

I hope your Spring goes great and if you are looking for a hot read, feel free to pick up my latest release ~ Shades of Ménage Boxed Set.

It's a HIT!

Thanks to Eve Langlais, Canada has a new romance reader conference. The very first Romancing the Capital was held last weekend in Ottawa and WOW, it was a fantastic success. (It's possible that Eve is the most organized person on the planet.)

If you are on Facebook, there's a long stream of pictures from the conference in the RTC Ottawa group. My husband was watching them flow on Sunday night and remarked that everyone looked like they were having such fun. They were.

I had such a good time. It was wonderful to meet so many readers and writers whose names I know from our online interactions, as well as to meet new readers and writers. (As a bonus, I met many of the writers who contribute to this blog for the first time ever. Hello, my Romance Eh sisters!) There was a lot of energy at the conference, the events were fun, the food was great and the hotel was fabulous. The booksigning was the best. (I have shiny new books to read - yay!) I've never been to such a good conference, or one so well organized.

Incredibly, Eve even managed to ensure that we had beautiful weather, both for the drives to and from Ottawa and for the weekend itself. It was forecast to rain, so clearly she has connections.

It was also perfect timing for a break for me (I know Eve was thinking of that a year or more ago when she chose the date...!) Firestorm Forever, which is available for pre-order at Amazon, Apple, B&N, GooglePlay and Kobo became the monster book this winter. It includes three firestorms (romances) and is more than twice the length of the other Dragonfire novels. It goes on sale May 13, so I've been embroiled in the final proofreading of the book. It was refreshing to step away from my dragon dudes and have some fun with readers (especially with readers who so love my Pyr heroes!)

Plans are already in the works for RTC 2016, and I'll definitely be there. There are whispers of more events, more programming - and people are already planning their costumes for the evening parties. I can't wait and am doing some organizing myself. Hope to see you there.

I suspect that this is going to become an event like Lori Foster's reader event which sells out very quickly each year. If you have any plans to attend, you'll want to keep an eye on this website, where registration will open in the next couple of weeks.

Eve is at work with her minions and I'm not going to get in their way.

Thanks, Eve, for a great time! And now, back to those final proofs of Firestorm Forever...

Romancing the Capital

Romancing the Capital
Something Wicked This Way Comes…
Posted By: Kali Willows

On  April 17th & 18th, 2015, myself and several of our Canadian authors from Romance Eh, will be attending a special event!

Romancing the Capital Ottawa Romance Convention. It takes place in Ottawa, Canada Several and is the very first one, of what we hope becomes an annual event for Canadian readers to indulge in. I’m one of those crazy authors who will be there!

In honor of this event, I’m happy to announce, my Canadian-based story: Romancing the Author was contracted for a submission call just for this sizzling occasion.

Along with a multi-author sponsored Mad Hatter dinner and dance, there is also a 50’s Sock Hop, panels, workshops and a spectacular book fair with 50 registered authors, the good times will be endless.

An event near and dear to my heart is the Author-Reader Speed Dating Extravaganza I am hosting.  With 25 registered authors and a room full of prizes to be won, it promises to be jam packed with fun and excitement while readers get a chance to meet some of their favorites and discover even more.

What is this new, steamy 1NS tale I’m bringing to the Canadian Capital, you ask? It’s my pleasure to introduce my newest 1NS story:

                                             Romancing the Author

~Blurb~

NFL star, Connor Caine has given up on romance. Starved for a real woman with curves, intellect, and a sharp wit, he exchanges playful messages with an online crush. But when he can’t connect with her, he’s urged to seek out a 1Night Stand while in the Canadian capital for business.

Steamy sex is plentiful for author Gemma Daveen—at least on the pages she writes. Publicized as happily married, she has kept a few well-hidden secrets. But her publicist knows better, and ravenous for sexual reprieve, Gemma soon finds herself booked for a 1Night Stand during a romance convention in Ottawa.

~Excerpt~

Connor: Do you wear jeans, Gemma?
Gemma: Sure, all the time. They’re 90 percent of my wardrobe, LOL. Why?
Connor: I’ve got a thing for belt loops.
Gemma: What do you mean? And were they crossing a line?
Connor: Have you ever had a guy slip his fingers into the belt loops of your jeans and pull you so close to him, he could taste your lips?
Gemma: No, but I like the sound of that. Had she really typed that?
Conner: Maybe one day, I can pull you by the belt loops.

Three hours flew by and, finally, despite her fascination, her eyelids grew heavy
Connor: I have a confession to make. I’ve bought your books and read them. You’re such a gifted author.
Gemma: You have? Her breath hitched.
Connor: Yes! I can’t get enough of your stories. You’re brilliant.
Gemma: Thank you. A weak response given he had just hit her cerebral G-spot. Conner loved her writing? He’d read her books? Incredible. No longer tired, she held her hands over the keyboard.
Gemma: I…have to come clean with something, too.
Connor: What?
All or nothing.
Gemma: I’m a sapiosexual.
Connor: Come again?
Gemma: A person sexually attracted to the intelligence in others. She held her breath for his response.
Connor: And where do I fit into this orientation of yours?
Butterflies somersaulted in her stomach.
Gemma: Top of the list.

SPOTLIGHT on Canadian Romance Author @BonnieEdwards #NewRelease Parlor Games! #Erotic

PARLOR GAMES Tales of Perdition 4
By Bonnie Edwards

Welcome to Canadian romance author, Bonnie Edwards! So glad she stopped by to spotlight her latest release, PARLOR GAMES (of course, in Canada, it would be PARLOUR GAMES) *snicker* Read below for all the hot details!

BLURB:

Welcome to Perdition House: a house of sin, secrets and seduction.

Matt Crewe has only one desire when he arrives at Perdition House: to sell himself in a sexy bachelor auction for charity. Matt needs to get the truth behind the web of lies that surround the mysterious mansion.

Carrie MacLean needs a career-making break and buying the services of a bachelor for so-called charity will give her all she needs to move into hard hitting journalism.

What neither of them knows is that Perdition House is a haunted bordello and they are already mesmerized by the spirits of the women who once lived and worked there.

They each need to expose the mansion’s secrets but once they make a connection, nothing, not even their own secrets can come between them.

Both Matt and Carrie are cool and competent professionals, intent on getting what they came for…

In a last ditch effort to save their sanity, their lives and their hearts, the truth is revealed and they accept that love found in Perdition is eternal…

EXCERPT:

“Matt Crewe,” he said, “very pleased to meet you.”
“Carrie MacLean,” she said with a nod and smile. “Sorry about the talent comment, it was rude. I’m not sure what came over me, but as soon as I walked through the gates. . . .” She looked back at them, but the entrance to the driveway was obscured by pine boughs.
“Cold?” he asked.
She released her arms. She unzipped her fleece to mid-chest, then loosened her collar the way he had. “No, I was freezing a moment ago, but now I’m hot as can be.”
“You can say that again,” he muttered as he bent to pick up her overnight bag. “I’ll carry this for you,” he offered.
“Thanks!”
The cabs spread ahead and behind them as people arrived at an orderly pace. She watched every car that went past with interest. “Do you see the optical illusion?”
“You mean the boughs swaying away from the noses of the cars?”
“Yes. It’s odd. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it.”
He shrugged. “Like you said, it’s just an illusion.” But his sexual arousal was real as real could get.
She glanced up at him, her eyes catching reflected light as it bounced off the tree limbs. “Yes, an illusion. Have you been here before Matt?”
“No, this is my first time.”
“Me, too.”
“Virgins, then.”
She chuckled. “In a manner of speaking.” There was just enough room at the side of the driveway for them to walk side by side. They took it.
He wanted to understand the colors at play in her hair, see the smoothness of her cheeks, how straight her teeth were, the level of intelligence in her gaze, but the on-again, off-again lighting only allowed for glimpses.
No matter, he’d see her soon enough. See her and know her in ways he could barely fathom. He wasn’t prone to fanciful thoughts, but he did know gut reaction and his gut screamed for full speed ahead with her.
Lights from the house appeared between the trees ahead and they rounded one more bend. The driveway curved directly in front of a three-story Victorian mansion aglow with welcome. She caught her breath at the sight, and he wondered what she’d sound like in the throes of passion. He was determined to find out.
“Perdition House,” she said. “A weekend of rest and relaxation awaits us both.”
“You could call it that.” He called it a sex club, pure and simple. But if she wanted to keep to her own illusions she was welcome to them. “This is where we part company Carrie MacLean. The hired help is expected to enter through a side entrance.”
“See you later?”
“Yes, you will.”
She put her hand on his sleeve and looked up at him. He felt a punch of desire to his gut he fully accepted. “I’m already looking forward to it,” she said. She licked her lips, and the power of the simple gesture undid him.

He headed across the drive before he dragged her into the well-tended rose bushes.

New Release and Heading to the Capital ... #RTC2015 @KaceyHammell

Good morning everyone!! It's been crazy month -- make that 2 months -- and I haven't posting in that time. In addition to some vehicle issues, finishing TWO stories (and submitted them already), finalizing edits for my latest release (info below), and getting ready for the Romancing the Capital Conference, I've been a bit off my rocker. LOL

So, starting today (I leave in about an hour), I'm heading to the Capital -- Ottawa, Ontario -- to enjoy a few days "off" and meeting a lot of CDN authors, and some US ones too, and embracing all the readers who also love romance.

If you happen to be near Ottawa on Saturday, the big booksigning is from 2-4pm. It's open to the public and the more the merrier

Canadian Muscle …

When Desires Need Protecting.

No one knows sacrifice better than former Army Sergeant Gavin Bennett. He’s witnessed
firsthand the emotional, physical and mental toll of being caught in the crossfire. Being a bouncer-slash-bodyguard may not be Gavin’s dream job, but he’s willing to do just about anything to help out family. When Gavin reports for his first day of work, he quickly discovers a woman who threatens to crack his legendary cool.

Shree Walker is on the run from a dark past she tried to shut away. Battered and broken, a happily ever after doesn’t exist for her. Ready to start fresh with a new life in a new city, she is happy dancing at the Vixen Club. She’d be even happier without the presence of the prickly new bouncer who won’t let anyone or anything get past his carefully guarded defenses. He’s a distraction she doesn’t need. And a temptation she can’t resist.

When Shree is kidnapped by the criminal mastermind hell-bent on taking the club at any cost, Gavin has to make a decision. Hold tight and continue to keep Shree at arm’s length. Or break down his walls and take a chance on something more powerful than them both: Love.

I hope you all have great day ahead!
